Your Sanitas policy documents

Your Sanitas policy documents live in the Mi Sanitas app, in the policy section. This guide shows what you’ll find there, which document is which — and the fastest way to get help in English if the document you need isn’t there.

Where they are in the app

Open More, then Administrative procedures, then Policy and documentation. That screen holds your policy paperwork. (You can also reach your contract paperwork through My details and policies → Contract and documentation.)

If your app is in Spanish, look for Más → Gestiones → Póliza y documentación.

One warning, because the mix-up is common: policy documents are not under Reports and prescriptions — that tab holds medical reports and prescriptions. Your policy paperwork lives in the Policy and documentation screen described above.

What you’ll find there

The Policy documentation screen lists your documents, each with a download control:

  • Particular terms and conditions — your cover’s own specifics (the screen also records the date you accepted them).
  • General terms and conditions — the standard terms.
  • Policy update — the latest update document for your cover.
  • Certificates — including a Coverage certificate Spain, a Contract certificate, a Certificate of assistance abroad and a Certificate of premiums.
  • A Request card button at the bottom — this is where you order a physical card.

Which document is which

The particular conditions are your cover’s specifics — who is covered and from when. The general conditions are the standard terms that apply to everyone. When an office or landlord asks for proof of your cover’s details, it is usually the particular conditions they need — people routinely send the wrong one.

Among the certificates, the one people usually want is the Coverage certificate Spain — proof of your cover in Spain. The Certificate of assistance abroad covers travel outside Spain, and the Certificate of premiums is a premiums-payment certificate — useful for tax paperwork, but it is not proof of cover.

Downloading a certificate — in English or Spanish

Tap a certificate and the app asks you to select the beneficiary it’s for, then choose the language — Spanish or English — before downloading. That means you can hand over an English version directly, without translating anything.

Need a certificate for a visa or residency appointment?

The app can download cover certificates — but which document a consulate or immigration office accepts depends on your application, and a deadline is the wrong moment to guess. If in doubt, ask us through our contact page and we’ll point you to the right document.

Two look-alikes to avoid: the Certificate of premiums (certificado de primas) is a premiums-payment certificate, not proof of cover; and search results for “Sanitas certificate” often surface an unrelated Colombian company’s app.

For what a certificate needs to say for a visa or residency application, see our certificate guide or the general guide to health insurance certificates for Spanish visas.

Emergencies and getting help

Serious or life-threatening emergency? Call 112 now — Spain’s emergency number. Do not contact Spanish Health Insurance first.

  • Urgent medical advice through Sanitas: the Mi Sanitas app includes a video consultation for emergencies with a doctor, in the app’s Emergency care section where shown. This is not a replacement for 112 in a serious emergency.
  • Sanitas emergency numbers: in the app under Useful telephone numbers, Sanitas lists 24-hour emergencies: 91 752 29 10 · 900 906 207.
  • App login, card-loading or technical problems: only Sanitas can fix these. Use the Contact section at the bottom of the app’s More menu — telephone numbers, a contact form and offices — or Sanitas Customer service: 91 752 28 52 · 93 362 34 49 · 900 906 210.

Separately from the above: for non-urgent questions about your policy or your documents, you can reach us through our contact page.

A premiums-payment certificate — a record of what you have paid, useful for tax paperwork. It is not proof of cover, so don’t send it when someone asks for evidence of your health insurance; the Coverage certificate Spain is proof of your cover in Spain.
