Does Spanish public healthcare cover dental treatment?

The Spanish public health system (Sistema Nacional de Salud) provides very limited dental coverage for adults — generally only emergency extractions. Routine care such as cleanings, fillings, root canals, orthodontics, and implants is not covered and must be paid privately. Dental insurance makes these treatments accessible.

Can I get dental insurance without a health insurance policy?

Yes. All Sanitas dental plans are available as standalone insurance — you do not need to hold a Sanitas health insurance policy to enrol. You can also add dental coverage as an optional add-on to most Sanitas health plans.

Are implants covered by Sanitas dental plans?

The implant study and planning is included free on all plans. Implant placement (osseointegrated implant) is available at the exclusive Sanitas network rate of €780 per unit — versus typical market prices of €1,500–2,000. Dental Milenium and Premium plan members receive an additional 10% discount from their second year.

How do I cancel a Sanitas dental plan?

All dental plans are annual contracts. To cancel, you must submit written notice at least one month before your policy renewal date. If notice is not received in time, the contract automatically renews for a further year.
