Mi Sanitas is the main Sanitas app — it handles your entire account including policy management, appointments, claims, and coverage. Blua is the telemedicine feature built into Mi Sanitas. When people say "Blua," they mean the video consultation and digital prescription feature inside the Mi Sanitas app. You don't need two separate apps — just download Mi Sanitas and everything is in one place.
Yes. Blua is included in every Sanitas health insurance plan at no extra cost. Standard GP video consultations are fully covered with no subscription fee, no per-minute charge, and no limit on how many times you can use it. Specialist consultations follow your plan's standard rules — copay plans may apply a small fee — but the Blua platform itself is always free.
No. There is no cap on the number of Blua video consultations you can have. Use it as often as you need — for routine GP appointments, prescription renewals, or follow-up care. This is one of the key advantages for expats who need regular access to English-speaking healthcare without arranging in-person visits each time.

Download the Mi Sanitas app (search "Mi Sanitas" on the App Store or Google Play). Tap Register and enter your Sanitas policy number (número de póliza), your NIE or passport number, and your date of birth — these must match your policy exactly. Confirm with the SMS or email code, set a password, then go to Settings and switch the language to English. Tap the Blua tab to start your first video consultation.
The most common issues are: (1) Wrong ID type — enter the same document (NIE, DNI, or passport) used to set up your policy. (2) Policy number format — try with and without leading zeros. (3) Outdated app — make sure you have the latest version. If none of these work, contact us and our English-speaking team will walk you through registration or liaise with Sanitas on your behalf, usually within 24 hours.
In Mi Sanitas, go to Appointments (Citas) and use the filter to select Language: English. This shows only doctors in the Sanitas network registered as English-speaking. There are over 4,000 English-speaking healthcare professionals across Spain. The highest concentrations are in Madrid, Barcelona, the Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca, and the Balearic Islands.
Yes. If your policy covers multiple people, each family member can set up their own Mi Sanitas account using their personal details and the same policy number. The primary policyholder can also manage dependents through their account. Children under 16 are typically managed through a parent's account. Contact our team if you need help adding family members.
Blua video consultations can be accessed from anywhere in the world as long as you have an internet connection. However, digital prescriptions and specialist referrals are issued for use within the Spanish healthcare system. For travel cover outside Spain, check whether your specific Sanitas plan includes any international benefit — Residents Platinum includes international cover, for example.
Blua is a feature included with all Sanitas plans, not a plan itself. The plans that qualify for the Non-Lucrative Visa (NLV) and Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) are Sanitas Residents and Sanitas Residents Platinum. Both offer no copayments, repatriation cover, no waiting periods, no coverage limits, and are valid for 12 months and renewable. No other Sanitas plan qualifies for these visas.
